It has been exciting putting together this website over the last couple of months whilst working on a few different things throughout 2013. As my first post on this website, I thought it would be a good idea to have a 2013 reflection post and what I’m thinking about doing going into 2014.

Work

Getting my first client on board, Scoopy Doo’s Ice Cream Parlour in Treforest was definitely a step in the right direction. This exciting brand needed a fun website showing their menu and where they’re based in South Wales. Like this website it was built on WordPress and was done within a month.

Website

My first portfolio website was published last February and it felt like a huge achievement. Since then it has been tinkered with and improved within an inch of its life. This new refresh for 2014 uses WordPress as a content management system and employs some new skills I’ve learnt over the past year. Over the course of 2014 I’ll be changing, probably breaking and then fixing my website, as fiddling with websites is like my second hobby.

University

Completion of my first year and the start of the second year at the University of South Wales. You may or may not know that I study BSc Media Technology at the University of South Wales. As a result, some of the things I dabble in are web design, computer graphics, 3D Studio Max, a bit of video, sound and radio. The University of South Wales is a great place to learn, with a diverse range of people and courses.

Social media

Start of Twitter. At first, I felt very reluctant to sign up to Twitter, as originally I didn’t see the point or the need. However, I was very much mistaken… Twitter has helped me to connect to like-minded people and see the wealth of opportunities in Cardiff and around the world. Twitter is partly the reason why this website has been re-done: instead of being limited to 140 characters, I wanted to share my opinions on any news and topics that I find interesting.

Closing thoughts

I hope that 2014 will be as good (if not better) than 2013 – Who knows what opportunities are in store? Hopefully, this post hasn’t put you to sleep, and that it will give you more of an insight into me and what I’m about. There will be more blog posts coming soon, but in the meantime feel free to look around my website, connect with me on Twitter and Linkedin.

Thanks for reading!
