This is an exciting time for me and this new website has been the biggest challenge so far and it’s a big stepping stone. This short first blog post is a reflection on 2013 and where I’ll hopefully be heading in 2014.

These are some of the things that I accomplished last year:

First Client. This was probably the most significant part of the year. Scoopy Doo’s Ice Cream Parlour were the first clients that hired me to design them a website. This was an exciting opportunity for me, and allowed me to make a break in my career. As I carry on in University I hope to expand my portfolio, gain experience and to hopefully get to know more people in the web industry.

First Website. My first portfolio website was published last February and it felt like a huge achievement. Since then it has been tinkered with and improved within an inch of its life. This new refresh for 2014 uses WordPress as a content management system and employs some new skills I’ve learnt over the past year. Over the course of 2014 I’ll be changing, probably breaking and then fixing my website, as fiddling with websites is like my second hobby.

Completion of my first year and the start of the second year at the University of South Wales. You may or may not know that I study BSc Media Technology at the University of South Wales. As a result, some of the things I dabble in are web design, computer graphics, 3D Studio Max, a bit of video, sound and radio. The University of South Wales is a great place to learn, with a diverse range of people and courses.

Start of Twitter. At first I felt very reluctant to sign up to Twitter, as originally I didn’t see the point or the need. However I was very much mistaken… Twitter has helped me to connect to like-minded people and see the wealth of opportunities in Cardiff and around the world. Twitter is partly the reason why this website has been re-done: instead of being limited to the 140 characters, I wanted to share my opinions on any news and topics that I find interesting.

I hope that 2014 will be as good (if not better) than 2013 – Who knows what opportunities are in store? Hopefully this post hasn’t put you to sleep, and that it will give you more of an insight into me and what I’m about. There will be more blog posts coming soon, but in the mean time feel free to look around my website, connect with me on Twitter, Linkedin and Vimeo.

Thanks for reading!
